vom Norden bis zum Bodensee
1984 wurden die damals drei Landesprogramme des NDR deutlich erweitert – weg von kurzen regionalen Stundensendungen hin zu echten, eigenständigen Landesprogrammen. Von Beginn an war ich Teil dieser Entwicklung.
Meine ersten Einsätze hatte ich in der Moderation der samstäglichen Hitparadensendung „Hitladen Hamburg“. Es folgten Formate wie „Wählscheibe – das Wünschkonzert der Hamburg Welle“, „Hits & Tipps aus Hamburg“, „Hamburg am Mittag“ und „Hamburg heute“.
Die wichtigste Sendung war jedoch die Frühsendung "Morgenjournal" später "Stadt Wecker", deren enorme Reichweitenbedeutung mir mit gerade einmal 20 Jahren im Jahr 1987 noch nicht bewusst war. Die Sendung lief von 5.30 Uhr bis 10.00 Uhr – eine prägende Zeit, in der wir Moderatoren die Musik noch selbst zusammenstellten. „Musikuhren“ oder feste Formate hielten erst später Einzug ins Programm.
Regelmäßig stand ich zudem am Samstagabend für das „Tanzvergnügen“ am Mikrofon – eine Livesendung, die aus wechselnden Veranstaltungsorten übertragen wurde: aus der Friedrich‑Ebert‑Halle in Harburg, dem Bürgerhaus Wilhelmsburg, vom Hamburger Dom oder aus dem legendären „Café Keese“ an der Reeperbahn. Diese Sendung wurde parallel auch von NDR 1 Welle Nord und NDR 1 Niedersachsen übernommen und erreichte so ein großes Publikum im ganzen Norden.
Neben der Moderation war ich von 1984 bis 1990 auch als Reporter für das komplette Tagesprogramm der NDR Hamburg Welle unterwegs – häufig mit dem Ü‑Wagen im Einsatz und immer nah an den Geschichten der Stadt.
